Background
This project involved the comprehensive civil works package for a new anaerobic digestion plant in an environmentally sensitive area of County Roscommon.
The development required extensive infrastructure works including N5 junction enhancements, access road construction, and full site development to support a facility that processes biodegradable waste into renewable energy and fertiliser, contributing to regional sustainability goals.
Key Achievements
- Constructed 500m access road and 9,900m² of blacktop paving for plant areas
- Executed 20,000m³ of bulk earthworks and installed 10,000m² of GCL lining system
- Built 1.5km of drainage system with 50 manholes and 35 gullies
- Constructed bridge over watercourse and installed 4 petrol interceptors
- Installed 650m of security fencing with automated gates and extensive boundary works
- Laid 500m of utility ducting and chambers for multiple services
- Completed N5 junction enhancement works with traffic signals and public lighting
Project Outcome
- Successfully managed works in sensitive location with watercourse and woodland areas
- Utilised GPS-controlled dozers and hybrid excavators for precision earthworks
- Supported local economy through employment of regional workforce and material sourcing
- Implemented comprehensive surface water management and dust control measures
- Completed all works within 10-month timeframe despite extensive infrastructure requirements
- Enabled renewable energy production through delivery of essential plant infrastructure
