This project was a key initiative under Ireland’s Active Travel Scheme, commissioned to enhance pedestrian and cycling infrastructure along the N63 Ballinalee Road in Longford.
The objective was to promote safer, healthier, and more sustainable transport options for local residents. Key challenges included managing high traffic volumes, minimising disruption to local schools and businesses, and integrating new infrastructure within complex existing road layouts.
Eliminated concrete kerbs by using compacted sidewalls, reducing material and cost without compromising quality.
Reused 1,100m³ of excavated topsoil on-site, cutting transport emissions and minimising waste.
Phased traffic management around school and business schedules to maintain flow and minimise disruption.
Sequenced lighting upgrades for immediate LED activation, ensuring no safety downtime
